The story of the band Theory of a Deadman began in 2001. That Canadian group managed to become popular all around the globe thanks to their honest, uncompromising creativity. The point is that the musicians found the source of their inspiration in grunge, alternative rock, punk-rock and other styles. Thereby the shades of various musical directions found their place in Theory of a Deadman’s compositions. Such kind of a cocktail proved to be true and sincere, and also it has its own powerful and solid sound.
The rockers’ debut self-titled record saw the light in 2002. Theory of a Deadman attracted attention of connoisseurs of high quality music and interesting lyrics. Thus, the composition The Last Song took a notable place in the band’s life and development: it tells us a story of a person, who recalls all his life time before committing a suicide. Due to that song the group got its name Theory of a Deadman, as soon as it was a working title of The Last Song. However that album did not become a breakthrough for the band. The rockers got their world fame after releasing the second studio attempt Gasoline. It was issued in 2005, just when the famous video game Fahrenheit appeared. Its soundtrack included several songs from Gasoline: Santa Monica, No Surprise, Say Goodbye and the song No Way Out that had been written specially for Fahrenheit. A bit obscure, but incredibly atmospheric game became a perfect stage for Theory of a Deadman’s music. There is absolutely no doubt that such a successful collaboration was definitely good for both Fahrenheit and Theory of a Deadman.
The rockers released their third studio record titled Scars & Souvenirs in 2008. Traditionally strong long play pleased listeners not only with the signature sound, but also with the compositions’ content: Theory of a Deadman were talking about life in general, about ups and downs, and it was fascinating to listen to them. The Canadians had something to share with their fans, that is for sure. Theory of a Deadman presented their new albums every three years, and year 2011 did not prove to be an exception, to the great joy of lovers of alternative rock. Thus, the band issued the fourth studio work titled The Truth Is.... in 2011. Their creativity had always been called-for, and the song Head Above Water suited the entourage of a “big-robots-movie” Transformers: Dark of the Moon perfectly. The Truth Is... is a bit more thoughtful and calm than the rockers’ previous works. However people should not consider The Truth Is.... to be an album of ballads only. The Canadians Theory of a Deadman know what the real rock is, and the band keeps on pleasing lovers of rebel and energetic music.
